Trigger Point Injection Therapy
Trigger point injection therapy is a procedure used to treat painful areas of muscle that contain trigger points, or knots of muscles that form when the muscles do not relax.  Many times such knots can be felt under the skin. Trigger points may irritate the nerves around them and cause referred pain, or pain felt in another part of the body.

During trigger point injection therapy, the Doctor inserts a small needle into the patient's trigger point with a cocktail of local anesthetic, botanical anti-inflammatory and in severe cases, a corticosteroid.  The trigger point is rendered inactive and the pain is alleviated.  Several sites may be injected at once time.
